I might as well make it an ALA-APA week and be done with it. However, this post isn't on the ALAAPAAFBSAPET, but on the proposal for the ALA-APA Council to pass a resolution endorsing a "nonbinding minimum salary for professional librarians." The resolution states that $40K should be the minimum professional librarian starting salary.
A resolution! Now THIS is more like it! This is great news for all those librarians making under $40K. Your problems are solved!
We know the ALA-APA Council is just the ordinary ALA Council, except they meet at a different time and perhaps a different room and adopt this alias to hide their identity. And we also know that when the ALA Council passes a resolution, people stand up and take notice! After all, this is the same powerful and influential group that derailed the confirmation of Justice Alito, ended the war in Iraq, got President Bush impeached, and stopped genocide in Darfur--all by passing resolutions!
The future looks brighter already.

My son could use the ALA-APA resultion in the potty for what it's worth. So instead of fixing the problem, they pass ANOTHER resolution. Why am I not surprised.
As the Dread Pirate Roberts said to Count Ruegan, "We are men of action, lies do not become us."
Or maybe Conan said it best with "Enough talk."
The ALA-APA meets at a different time in a different room to hide their identity?
Lets pay them a surprise visit. Where and when will they be meeting in Seattle?
Does ALA remember this is a BIG country? $40,000 in Maine is a different $40,000 than Alaska or California.
Hey, what are you all complaining about? At least this silly resolution is related to libraries. ALA is making significant progress!
Hey, I didn't think of that, Contrarian--it is library related.
I need some input. I'm asking questions today. Stop by and take a look. Were you taught to diagram sentences when you were in school? Were your classes called "language arts," or "communication," or "English?" Were you taught "whole language" or phonics? Did you have instruction in penmanship (cursive) after the early grades? Check here.
