These Multitasking Kids Today
Here's a story in the Chronicle of Higher Education referencing an article in the New York Times about a study showing these kids today aren't the multitasking whizzes the frustrated trendsetters are always telling us they are. In the study, it turns out that the 30 year olds were better than 18-21 year olds at tasks if both groups were interrupted. This is just confirmation of what I've been saying all along--these kids today don't have anything on me.

The Conjuring Arts Research Center is seeking a full-time Librarian/Preservationist to join our staff. Responsibilities will include scanning materials of all ages, using ABBY Fine Reader (OCR scan & read software) and Adobe Acrobat Professional, to be entered into Ask Alexander, an all-encompassing magic database that is fully text searchable.
Experience handling rare and delicate literary materials and adequate computer literacy are required. Experience working with ABBYY Fine Reader and Adobe Acrobat Professional is preferred.
This position is ideal for anyone with an interest in special libraries, rare books, digitization, and/or magic. Students currently enrolled in a Library Science program are encouraged to apply.

I always thought that was common sense. What is that saying about old age beats youth any day? I am not saying the 30 year olds are "old aged," but they certainly have experience. For me, the favorite line is when some young whippersnapper comes along, "look old timer, we have now computers, I-Pods, cell phones, etc. What ya have back in dinosaur land?" I simply say, "yea, we did not have those things. So WE invented them, and we did while watching the news and writing various documents and so on."
