Vacationing

So I'm taking another week or so off to recover from catching up from my week or so off a couple of weeks ago. If this keeps up, I'm going to need a lot more vacation. In times like this I do wonder about those librarians I know who rarely take any vacation because, you know, they have so much work to do and, you know, the library would fall apart without them and, you know, they'd just miss it so much. Believe it or not, I know some like that. Even when they're away, they're emailing and IMing and phoning in, under the mistaken impression that anyone cares when other people leave. As their plane to the Bahamas is preparing to take off, they probably call up the reference desk or the administration office just to let people know where they are. "The plane's about to take off. Any questions for me?"

Me, I never miss work. In fact, the longer I'm away, the harder it is to go back. But I do miss you, dear readers, so I might try to post something this week if I take time from my martini and my improving book.

Like yourself, I do not miss my library post when I am away on vacation.

There was a time, however, when I thought, you know, if I were away, the rest of the staff would need me and, you know, I had check up on them to see if the website was still working, etc.

But I recovered from that, thankfully. Now I simply deliver unimpressive work...and remain perfectly sane and stress-free.

Good! You're getting rested for the ALAP party at Annual.

If you're going, turn down several glasses for us "stay-at-homes."
