Not Twittering Away

Since several commenters have mentioned it, I thought I should at least state for the record that I have nothing to do with the new Twitter account allegedly by the Annoyed Librarian. I have no idea who is doing it, and whether that person is some kind of pathetic person sadly trying to gain notoriety by impersonating the AL or whether it's just some sad person pathetically trying to attack the AL. Either way, I don't care, but whoever it is, it isn't me.

But then again, that's what you'd expect me to say, isn't it.

Enjoy the weekend.

Not only is it unfunny, the comments read like one of those websites that link together random comments to generate hits on search engines.

And I also would like to complain about all the people who make comments in my name, being the anonymous poster is hard somedays....

Ah, but since you're the most successful, respected, and desirable librarian of your generation you must expect these petty annoyances. Have another martini and relax. Those of us who admire you from afar know your true character. ;-)

At this point I'm not really annoyed. I'm not even sure what it's doing. Mainly I just think it's weird.

Called Twitter because the people who are on it/use it are twits

Charles Bukowski once said something to the effect of "Never assume people are as interested in your own life as you are."*

I don't get the endless fascination some people with collective navel gazing.

*-Can you imagine a Buk Twitter page?:

Getting drunk [2 minutes ago]
Getting drunk [2 hours ago]
Slapdashing a few poems about getting drunk on ancient typewriter [4.5 hours ago]
Getting drunk [6 hours ago]
Waiting for liquor store on Santa Monica to open [8 hours ago]

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Yes, it's weird, but so are things in the library field right now. Just think about the last ALA convention you attended, wasn't that weird? Have another martini.

Great.

Just effing great.

I had to go and check out twitter to see what all this noise was about.

Now I have to go take a shower.

A way for friends to stay connected?

I have no friends.

I don't want any friends.

I just want to catalog my books/websites/other crap, snarl at the few patrons who dare ask me a question, get my paycheck and go home.

Twitter?

Bah humbug.

Can someone be so bored with life?

Yes, apparently so, leo klein...

After looking at twitiots, (and the 'faux' AL) I think I need to wash or sterilize my laptop.

...or maybe just clean out the cache...

I wanted to see but it wants me to login. And after reading your posts, um...no thanks. My mind has enough crap in it already. But it is clean and happy crap and life is good in here. No need to sully it.

Don't worry AL. There could never be another you!

V is for Vendetta... ;)

Kat!

[no, kat is not the twit. Kat thinks twit is silly and ridiculous. It's kind of like the Facebook wannabefirsts who weren't on Facebook when it started, but they want to be special too...so they made their own "twit wit lit" and now we have this twitter thing. And people are celebrating it...

How long will it be before peopel realize that idle time spent on the internet is vastly wasted time?

AL, I do need to thank you for six months of perspective on teh darkside of the library system. It's also making me appreciate the job I now have thanks to being in a LS class...in my BS field. It's funny.

Do you guys ever feel the irony in here? Using valuable time to complain that something else is wasting valuable time is... well, funny to me. Keep it up!
