The Face of Privacy and Intellectual Freedom

The Face of Privacy and Intellectual Freedom

This guy would make a greal ALA Read poster, don't you think?

Some pervert (I mean, alleged pervert) in Rochester, NY was arrested for chatting online with and soliciting sex from someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl. God knows what he was trying to get her to do. Fortunately, it turned out to be an undercover detective.

And he was arrested at a public library terminal! He used that to pick up teenage girls for whatever it is he wanted to do because he thought they wouldn't be monitored. But those fascists from the government look everywhere, doesn't he know that? Big Brother knows it when you try to pick up underage girls! And it's so unfair!

I hope the ALA strikes hard and fast to defend the right of this pervert to pick up teenage girls with public library computers. Don't the New York State Police realize that it is an invasion of his privacy and intellectual freedom to arrest him for soliciting sex from a minor on a public library terminal?

The librarian on duty should have sacrificed herself in the name of intellectual freedom and privacy. She should have told the State Police that she was the one soliciting sex from a minor. It's the least she could have done. It's what the Annoyed Librarian would have done.
